First I opened the outer box and extracted the inner box. Then I let it set like that for a while and did some office work (we've got a big deadline tomorrow). Then I carefully opened the inner box, examined the power cords, manuals and such that came with it, and then gently lifted the last layer of styrofoam to reveal the Powerbook itself, nestled below. I looked at it, not touching, and left it in its plastic sheath for a while longer and proofed some more magazine pages. Then I read the beginning Getting Started manual carefully on my next smoke break.

I returned to my office, picked up the Powerbook, and removed the plastic. Then I came hard. Not really, but close. Now it's charging up so that, as instructed, when it reaches its full charge, I can remove the power adapter and use it on the battery until the battery discharges, thereby making sure that the battery is broken in properly.

Now I'm going to hunt down some software to install when it's ready. First program: Adobe Photoshop 6.0.

Tonight I'm hoping to get the AirPort up and running so that I can update my diary from my living room couch.
