So who is an Ethical Slut?

I've purloined the title of a book by Dossie Easton and Catherine A. Liszt, "The Ethical Slut: A Guide to Infinite Sexual Possibilities." This book is worth its weight in condoms to anyone who openly tries to have more than one lover or partner at a time. It addresses all the problems that can come up in polyamorous relationships and discusses responsible ways to deal with them. Without hurting anyone (including yourself), without lying, without manipulating. Which isn't to say that no one ever gets hurt. It happens. As Barbie would say, "Polyamory is hard."

In my mind, Polyamory and Kink go hand-in-hand. While many denizens of kink prefer a monogamous partnership, most consider polyamory an acceptable, honorable situation for others. And anyone who's open-minded enough to try polyamory is usually willing to accept, try, or embrace the kinkier things in life.

What's my definition of Kink? I'm not even going there. There are too many flavors and degrees of kink to try to list them all.

I decided to make this list an auto-sign-up one instead of having to approve anyone who wanted to join. I didn't want to place myself in the role of judge and juror over whose kink is acceptable and whose isn't, thus avoiding the old, "My kink's okay, yours is sick," trap.

If someone is behaving nastily to others, I can still cut them out like a suppurating cyst. Anyone can feel free to let me know if they're having problems. I'm sure it won't come to that.

The bottom line:

If you define yourself as Kinky, you are.

If you have or would like to have more than one sexual partner, you're Polyamorous (even if you currently don't have any partners).

If you embrace your sexual side and love to exercise it to the fullest extent with lots of people serially or concurrently, you're a Slut.

And if you practice any or all of the behaviors above respectfully, honestly, safely, and consensually, you're Ethical.
