It's Day 3 of my Las Vegas, Baby, Fitness Challenge and I'm doing extremely well. Yay, me. I watched a Chinese film called "Shower" on Monday night and loved it. It wasn't "Terms of Endearment"-main-character-dies- slowly-emotional-manipulation or anything, but it still made me cry four or five times (okay, I started my period last night, so that might have been a teeny contributing factor). If you like Chinese films, I highly recommend this one. Spoiler Space |||||||||||| The themes in the film seemed to hit a lot of my issues. Er-ming loses his father, and then he loses his routine and rituals -- the things that were always the same, reliable, his sense of home and family. But he hasn't lost his whole family. He still has his brother who loves him and will take care of him. But he's lost the world where he felt safe and happy. And then he literally loses his home and has to go to completely alien surroundings. It really hit me hard. Especially the part where Er-ming accepts that his father is dead and starts to wail.
