First, dinner last night. Sara cooked for family dinner night; she plans this more often since she's starting night shift. Two words: Sopa Caldosa. With chorizo (I'm not sweating spelling here�see earlier entries for examples of my inferior Spanish). The soup had a chicken stock base with garlic, onions, cabbage, maybe some chili peppers (I'm not sure), garbonzo beans, and tomatoes. The she added homemade chorizo (a ground-up red spicy sausage), and we topped it with sour cream, cheese, and crisp corn flour tortilla strips. Oh my. When the house reached maximum redolence with garlic, onion, chicken and sausage smells, I wanted to plant my face in the Le Creuset and suck like a hog at a trough. Pretty imagery, eh? Jake's opinion was that sticking my head in a cast iron vat of hot soup might hurt, so I sat at the dining room table and ground my fingertips into the wood. Post sopa, we had Heath Bar ice cream, courtesy of Deb and her new tool of butch domination: the ice cream maker.

At bedtime, Deb gave me a lovely back massage. She's getting quite good in skill and patience. Jake usually gets the benefits of Deb's magic fingers. With the permanent knots in her shoulders, she needs it more than I do. But I certainly enjoyed the treat.

Needless to say, a good evening.
